The theme "Mountain · Water · Human" was selected for this festival with the hope that minds of the participants will be "unified" as they communicate with one another about art; just as nature, human, and art are unified when nature is human and human are nature. We also hope that this festival will be a wellspring of pleasure and happiness in which the artworks and various experiences from all over the world will enable the participants to understand the differences of others and accept those differences as diversity.
“The 6th Gongju International Art Festival” will consist of both Exhibitions and Events. The exhibitions will consist of a 'Preview show' and a 'Main show' (main exhibition) under the theme 'Mountain · Water · Human. The preview show will feature the works of 17 artists of ceramic, wood-craft, and creative doll art, who have been invited so that we may appreciate the depth and beauty of the traditional Korean art that is present in our daily lives. The ‘Main show(main exhibition)’ will feature artists from 17 countries who will present a diversity of viewpoints and interpretations on nature and human in an attempt to create harmony and broaden the path of understanding. The incidental events will include the opening performances, art experiences, and contests. The opening performances will feature a diversity of cultural music and dancing, along with fine arts.
The art experiences will feature interesting and beneficial activities that can be enjoyed by both children and adults. We are especially excited about the dinosaur-making contest "Dinosaurs: Revived!" that we hope will enhance your children's creativity and their interest in nature.
We hope that, at the 6th Gongju International Art Festival, you will discover the purity of spirit and true value that must be pursued in this Age, and diffuse the energy of communication. This festival is intended to be an opportunity for adults to relax and recharge after the strain of daily life, and to give your students and children great dreams that will inspire them to create new worlds. In addition, we hope that it will be an opportunity for the artists to gain a deeper understanding of the social meanings and roles of art, and will encourage them to serve these beautiful roles in order achieve harmony through true communication with their viewers.
충청남도와 공주시가 지원하고 임립미술관에서 주관하는 “2009 제6회 공주국제미술제”가 열립니다.
자연과 사람과 예술이 하나가 되고, 그 하나 속에서 자연이 사람이고 사람이 자연인 것처럼, 모든 사람이 예술 속에서 “나는 네가 되고, 너는 내가 되어” 서로 소통하기를 소망하며 이번 공주국제미술제의 주제를 “山 · 水 · 人”으로 정하였습니다. 세계 여러 나라의 미술작품과 다양한 미술체험을 통해서 서로 다름을 이해하고 다양성으로 받아 안아주는 즐겁고 행복한 미술축제가 되고자 합니다.
“2009 제6회 공주국제미술제”는 전시행사와 부대행사로 나누어 진행됩니다.
전시행사는 “山 · 水 · 人”이라는 주제 아래 ‘프리비유쇼’와 ‘메인쇼(주전시)’로 이루어지며, ‘프리비유쇼’에서는 도예와 목공예, 인형 작가 17인을 초대하여 일상 속에 깃든 우리 전통예술미의 깊이를 헤아려보고자 합니다. ‘메인쇼(주전시)’에서는 17개국의 작가들이 참여하여 자연과 사람에 대한 다양한 관점과 해석을 보여줌으로 이해의 통로를 넓혀보고자 하였습니다.
부대행사는 개막공연과 미술체험 그리고 대회로 이루어집니다. 개막공연에서는 미술과 함께 음악, 춤 등의 다양한 문화를 즐길 수 있으며, 어린이와 어른들이 함께 할 수 있는 미술체험에서는 생활에 적용할 수 있는 재미있고 유익한 미술을 만나게 될 것입니다. 특별히 어린이들을 위한 공룡 만들기 대회 “공룡 부활하다!”를 개최하여 자연과 환경에 대한 관심과 창의성을 고양시키고자 하였습니다.
이번 공주국제미술제에서는 예술작품 속에서 이 시대가 추구해야할 순수 정신과 참된 가치를 새롭게 발견하고, 소통의 에너지를 확산하고자 합니다. 일상에 겨운 어른들에게는 휴식과 충전의 기회가 되고, 학생들과 어린이들에게는 새로운 세계를 이루어가기 위한 멋진 꿈을 가지게 될 것입니다. 또한 미술가들에게는 미술작품의 사회적 의미와 역할을 깊이 있게 인식하고, 관객과의 진정성 있는 소통을 통해서 화합을 이루어가는 예술의 아름다운 사회적 역할을 다하는 기회가 되기를 기대합니다.
